The Reinventors Workshop is a free weekly themed series of virtual talks where we invite our featured esteemed speaker to share thought-provoking stories and action-oriented lessons.
Each workshop aims to enable attendees globally to learn, reflect, and take away lessons to make a change in their own selves personally and/or professionally as well as to effect action within their local communities.
About the Speaker: Josette Kalifa
Singer, Voice Coach, Speaker
It was in the street that Kalifa met its first audience in 1992. It aroused the enthusiasm of Victoria Abril, Isabelle Huppert and Vanessa Paradis. She was invited to New York (in the company of Catherine Deneuve) by Malcom McLaren, founder of the legendary group The Sex Pistols. She met Lenny Kravitz, Madonna.
In 2003, she recorded the album "Songs of Léo Ferré and Jean Roger Caussimon" with David Venitucci on the accordion.
She creates the show "Piaf Tout Simplement" with Alceo Passeo, pianist, composer in the film "La Môme" - Tour in France and Spain Festival "Escena Mobile".
Her Judeo-Arab origins push her to explore this language that she does not speak. So she sings it. She joined the Elandaloussia choir of Paris, directed by master Saad Eddine Elandalousi.
She created with him for the 100th anniversary of "the kid" the show "Piaf and the songs of the Maghreb" for the Institut de Monde Arabe in Paris then on tour in France and Spain.
In 2019 she will be the guest of the Arab-Andalusian Orchestra of Israel for a tour in the ten largest cities of the country accompanied by 40 musicians.
She has performed in several prestigious places in Paris [Le Divan du Monde, New Morning, Les Etoiles, l'Européen, le Trianon], café-concerts such as La Fleche d'Or Café, Le Limonaire, Le Sous-Sol , the Léo Ferré Forum, as well as on foreign stages in Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, United States, Germany, Tunisia, Spain, Israel.
